I realize most women searching for information about divorce aren’t looking to start an online business. Especially when they are caught up in the whirlwind of emotions, court dates, and huge financial decisions.
But at some point, life starts to settle down. You begin to dust yourself off and assess your situation. Maybe it’s time to reinvent yourself and focus on what truly makes you happy. Maybe you’re looking for ways to bring in extra money. I was at a similar point a couple of years after my divorce.
I was a single mom struggling to put food on the table while I juggled the bills, praying I could keep up with everything. To say things were tight is an understatement. I was scraping by with an unfulfilling job and looking for other ways to make money that would allow me the flexibility to be there for my kids.
I first looked into an opportunity selling supplements, but the organization would charge me for a premade website that I couldn’t make changes to. Hey, if I was going to run a business, I wanted to have a little more control than that.
But this did lead me to begin researching online business possibilities. Initially I decided to start a site discussing all the various issues women deal with. I even registered a domain name for the site. Unfortunately, it was way too broad of a topic and I never developed the site.
But I still wanted independence from a “JOB” and continued researching. I'll be honest with you, I'm not a computer geek. As a mom raising two boys, I didn't have tons of extra time to spend chasing every "get rich" pitch out there. I needed to find a system that allowed me to build a website quickly and easily without having to learn a whole lot of technical details.
Luckily I stumbled across Allan Gardyne at AssociatePrograms.com and really started learning about what it takes to build an online business. One of the resources he suggested was Site Built It (now called Solo Built It).
It was like a blueprint for building a online business, outlining out how to pinpoint a niche that is right for you. After reading through all the information, I decided it was time to take the leap. I joined SBI and registered this website in 2001.
I started WomansDivorce.com while I was still working for a paycheck. This gave me something to fall back on if my online business didn’t work out. Thankfully, the website took off and started generating income fairly quickly.
Just three short years after I started this site, I had to quit my day job due to a work injury. Losing the security blanket that a steady paycheck delivered was scary, but it was the best decision I ever made. Being able to devote my full attention to my online business allowed it to grow so much faster.
I chose to focus my website on divorce from a woman's perspective. Prior to my own divorce, the only divorced friends I had were men and I thought my experience would be similar to what they went through.
Boy was I wrong! I was unaware of the lingering effect of divorce, which left me financially and emotionally devastated. There were a lot of things I wished I had been prepared for that could have saved me a lot of headaches in the long run.
In building this website, I wanted to help other women prepare for and understand the divorce process so that they could avoid some of the mistakes I had made.
When I started out, I could only work on the website during the weekends and at night after the kids went to bed. It was slow at first, but I kept plugging along. It was fun and challenging at the same time, with me often finding it hard to tear myself away from the computer.
Once I quit my day job, I was able to devote a lot more time to it. Looking back, what I started with in 2001 was not exactly flashy. But I was able to communicate my messages in a way that real people could relate to. When you focus your website on helping others, you truly are a winner. The money is just secondary.
But my real success comes in the form of positive feedback from my visitors. So many women have emailed me or written letters letting me know that WomansDivorce.com has made a difference in their lives. The fact that I can truly help other women far outweighs the effort involved in maintaining and building this site.
I’ll admit, it was a labor of love doing the research and developing this website. SBI walks you through the steps of building an online presence. The backbone of the process is the Action Guide. It helps you research topics that interest you, so that you can eventually build a business that you are passionate about. If you’re not passionate about your topic, it’s just too easy to give up in the early stages.
The Action Guide lays out the whole process of building an online business, taking you through the various stages step by step. And you can either read the written guide or watch the videos (or both). If you check out the Action Guide, you may notice that it goes from Day 1 to Day 10. In reality, it will take you much longer than this to work through the steps and absorb everything. This is why you should consider it a 10 step action guide and not worry about the number of days it takes to get through the guide.
By following the steps, you can create a site that offers quality content that people are searching for (that also gets found by the search engines). This means you’ll get traffic to your site, which can equate to more income for you, whether through affiliate sales, sales of your own products or books, or even sponsorships.
The great thing about SBI is that it gives you guidance along the way, with the tools and methods to help you build a viable online business, at price that you can really afford.
Let's face it… you probably don't have a lot of extra money or time to waste on flashy gimmicks that don't work or get rich quick promises that never pan out. If you are really interested in building a business the right way, check out Solo Build It. This resource is geared to help you succeed.
If you are really serious about building an online business, I would expect you to do research to make sure you’re headed down the right path. I research things all the time. When I see something that sounds promising, I’ll start searching for reviews of the product (Amazon has me trained!) and read other people’s opinions on the subject.
Unfortunately, there are people out there who write fake reviews, usually to steer people to a different product. Amazon has even had to fight the influx of this type of thing by signifying whether the review was from a verified purchase or not.
So, when you’re searching for SBI! Reviews, you want to pay attention to the ones written by people who actually own a site built with SBI! Believe it or not, there are people who write reviews about SBI who have never used it. Basically, they give an overview of SBI and then lead you to another company. It’s kind of like a bait and switch. And most divorced women have had enough deception to last a life-time.
As you can tell, this review is objective because I actually built my website using SBI and have been around since 2001. So, just be cautious when reading other reviews and make sure they come from people who actually know how the process works and use it. If you’re curious about how websites that post fake reviews (which are hosted by a certain company) compare to websites hosted at SBI, you can check out this study.
WomansDivorce.com isn’t the only site built on the solid foundation that Solo Build It! provides. Many other sites, covering all types of topics, have succeeded using the Solo Build It blueprint. You can even check out their Solo Build It success stories and see how real people have built their online businesses and gained the freedom to live life on their own terms.
With Solo Build It! you get access to all the tools you need to build an online business, including the Action Guide, brainstorming tools, and best of all the Solo Build It forum. This is a place where fellow business builders can interact with other members, ask questions and share their advice. With the forum, you are never alone in your online venture.
Solo Build It also keeps up to date on the latest trends so you don’t spend time chasing down what is important in the internet world. This is worth so much because it’s easy to get distracted by “bright shiny objects” and take your focus off building your business. If it’s important to your success, Solo Build It will let you know about it.
I realize that Solo Build It might not be for everyone and that’s okay. It does take a lot of work and dedication to build an online business. But if you think you have what it takes, it’s good to know that Solo Build It offers a 90 day guarantee to test out the system (and it gives you full access to all the tools). If you realize that it’s not for you within the first 90 days, they’ll refund your money, no questions asked.
